Sensia 2009 Tempranillo
Tempranillo 100%

Sensia – the name suggests a sensuous and perfumed wine.

Peñaranda de Duero is a small town in the eastern part of the Ribera del Duero region; it boasts a spectacular, early medieval castle as well as an excellent small wine co-op. Sensia Tempranillo comes from the bodega which has access to some very venerable old vines and supplies grapes to some luminary producers in this famous Spanish wine region. It consists of 85% unoaked 2009 wine blended with 15% of a 2007 crianza wine which has spent around 14 months in American oak barrels. The wine still bears 2009 as its vintage since the 85% rule has not been exceeded.

Black berry, spice, oak and a rich texture characterise this exciting new addition to the Báscula family. Its evident but ripe tannins allow the wine to be happily enjoyed now but also endowing it with the capacity to improve over the next 3 years or so.
