The Charge evokes the criss-crossing of Rioja by medieval knights and pilgrims on the Santiago trail.
We are delighted to work with Rodolfo Bastida of Bodegas Ramón Bilbao in Haro, Rioja Alta. 70% of our white Viura was barrel fermented in a mixture of new French and American oak and was then aged for a further 5 months in the same barrels with frequent lees stirring. The remaining 30% was cool fermented in stainless steel. The result is a wine of considerable length and complexity. Fresh acidity and citrus fruit are balanced by a delicious oaky richness and a buttery texture arising from partial malolactic fermentation. |
